Shiba Inu’s pseudonymous lead developer Shytoshi Kusama answered the most asked question about Shibarium, the upcoming layer-2 solution first proposed by the Shiba Inu pseudonymous creator Ryoshi, and mentioned speaking to a “new audience soon.”
The Shib Army, the fierce and loyal community of the dog-themed altcoin Shiba Inu, was hyped by Kusama’s statements over the weekend. The lead developer seldom gives their word but when they do, they make sure that it comes true.
On Twitter, one of Kusama’s followers asked if they could have some clues about Shibarium, noting that their brain is addicted to Shiba Inu’s upcoming layer-2 solution. Kusama responded with a “Shiba Eternity” collectible game card named #SOON, showing a seemingly working Shiba with the word DEV written on its back.
Over the past months, the development team has repeatedly been asked the same question but it refused to give specific release dates and instead offered a timeline or release window. And while Kusama’s answer to the most asked Shibarium question is “soon,” they have, in the past, offered a less vague timeline in their Medium blog post, as well as on Shiba Inu’s official Discord.
In June, Kusama mentioned on Discord that they are “already in discussion to beef up efforts,” indicating that the dev team is working hard to meet the lead developer’s target release window. Online speculations suggest that Shibarium could roll out sometime in the late part of 2022 and before that official launch, the community will be provided with the documentation and materials so they could fully understand the function and scope of the layer-2 solution.
Earlier this month, Shibarium developer Unification hinted at the possibility that the layer-2 solution may be approaching its public beta test and official launch. In a blog post, the developer mentioned the beta would “coincide with the FUND TestNet upgrade,” which is set sometime in Q3 2022.
The developer also shared that it has successfully run the project’s alpha testnet “for a number of weeks” in June, which allowed the team to “create the necessary support tools prior to the public Beta TestNet deployment.” In the same update, Unification said that it was working on Shibarium’s wallet application at the time.
In another tweet, Kusama answered one of their Twitter followers who asked about BONE and called them “President.” In a tweet spotted by former Shiba Inu Growth Member and social media influencer GossipShib, the lead developer responded, “Not president. And I’m done talking on Twitter (for now). I’m preparing to speak to a new audience #soon.”
Kusama also mentioned the “weird post” claiming that the lead developer was “disappearing” and asked that they stop this kind of post. “I have to work okay,” they added, noting that aside from updating the community, they have other work to do, which includes contracts, pitches and strategies. “It’s more than hype and constant tweets. Strategy, Pitches, Contracts etc,” they said in a tweet.
It is worth noting that Kusama described Shibarium in a blog post in July as “a key component in this uncanny war” that will allow the Shib Army to “move assets on the chain with minor BONE (gas) fees empowering micro transactions.” The lead developer also mentioned that “xFUND and SHIB Developers have yet to determine a date for the Public Beta.”
As of 11:06 a.m. ET Sunday, SHIB, the native token of the Shiba Inu ecosystem was trading down 2.57% at $0.00001192 with a 24-hour volume of $349,511,197, according to the latest data from CoinMarketCap.
