The financial giant PayPal responded to an inquiry on Twitter about accepting the Shiba Inu (SHIB) as a payment method on its platform.

The request came from a member of the SHIB Army, a group of passionate supporters of the meme-inspired crypto-currency.
In a Twitter exchange on Feb. 11, user AdRock_0x asked PayPal if it accepts SHIBs as a payment method. “Asking for a fren“, added the user.
The company’s support account responded, advising AdRock_0x to ask his friend to contact PayPal directly via direct message to find out if’it accepted crypto-currency as a payment method.
PayPal’s involvement in the crypto-currency industry dates back to October 2020. At the time, it announced that it would allow users to buy, hold and sell crypto-currencies on its platform, taking the bull market to the next level. The company initially supported four crypto-currencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin).
Last June, PayPal announced that its users in the United States could now transfer crypto-currencies, including bitcoin, to external wallets. Prior to that, its U.S. customers could not move their crypto-currency holdings outside of its platform.
According to PayPal, the new feature was added after receiving a significant number of requests from its users since the company allowed the buying and selling of crypto-currencies.
In December, the financial giant allowed eligible customers in Luxembourg to buy, sell and hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash in their PayPal accounts via the website or mobile app.
At this point, it remains to be seen whether PayPal will add SHIB to the list of cryptocurrencies it supports. However, the Twitter exchange will likely spark speculation among SHIB Army members about the possibility of using their favorite crypto-currency on the payment platform.
